Last Night’s Presidential Debate

Yeehaw! Last night’s Republican debate was a real bumpin’ and draftin’ race. This was the most entertaining debate I’ve ever seen. The moderators didn’t hold back any questions, and the candidates didn’t hold any punches with each other. I’m glad because I want to see some of these losers crash and clear up the field. Let’s find out who’s really Conservative and who has a proven record.

Probably the most charismatic of the candidates was Mitt Romney. He showed a lot of poise, but he could not get away from Romney care, even though he carefully deflected it with a solid constitutional answer. The conservative base will never accept his record because we feel it is morally unacceptable to impose the purchase of a private product on anyone.

Michele Bachmann, a Tea Party favorite, was ok on the charisma scale until the question was asked if she would submit to her husband as president. Her face looked like a Guy Fawkes mask. The crowd booed as she stood motionless for 12 seconds (it felt like 12 minutes), but she finally answered by trying to redefine “submission” as “respect,” and not answering the meat of the question. Really? Epic fail. This debacle (debachmann?) was the most entertaining part of the whole night.

Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum were charismatic looking but didn’t really stand apart in beliefs or records from everybody else.

Herman Cain did a very good job of explaining his positions and qualifications, but wasn’t that exciting as a personality. Nevertheless, I like him a lot, and think he would be much better than Obama (but who wouldn’t?).

Ron Paul was, unsurprisingly, totally uncharismatic, but has the most consistent record of any candidate. All of the others were overusing the words “leadership,” “conservative,” and “freedom.” Say what you want about him, but only Paul is consistently behind the Constitution. That unwavering devotion to law is real leadership; it’s the definition of conservatism, and it’s the only way to secure freedom.

None of the other candidates were worth mention, except to say that Jon Huntsman is a flaming liberal.

Let me know what you think…
